In order to be happy and healthy, you need healthy habits which will keep you on the path you want to be on. Knowing the kind of life you want to live--are you married? How many children do you have? What is your career? What are your hobbies?, etc.--gives you something to work towards so you are never feeling stuck in your life. The vision of your life is what dictates the habits you must create in order to live the life you want.
You need is a positive mindset and a healthy body. Physical and mental health go hand in hand. Your mind tells your body how it feels, what to do, how to move, when it’s in pain, etc. When your body is fueled properly and functioning well, your mind will tend to be clear and more positive when making decisions. Fueling our bodies to feed our minds is less about losing weight and more about becoming a happier, healthier version of ourselves.
You need a plan to follow, especially for when life happens and you do not do the habits you have created for yourself. When you have a plan for the things you want in your life, there is no question about how you will reach those goals. A plan will also help you get back on track when you cannot make it to the gym or return from vacation and need to get ready to return to your usual weekly routine. A plan is simply guidelines you have set for your life that can easily be followed to get you back on track to living the life you desire.
